Learn from Cases and Hold Firm to Compliance Bottom Line

—Ms. Zhao, Chairperson of Silk Road Star, Attends Court Observation Activity

To strengthen entrepreneurs’ awareness of the rule of law and improve enterprises’ ability to guard against operational risks, on the morning of August 19, municipal‑ and district‑level deputies to the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress and member representatives of the Dongcheng District Women Entrepreneurs Association visited the North Campus of Dongcheng District People’s Court for court hearing observation and study‑tour activities. Zhao Xue, Chairperson of Silk Road Star (Beijing) Trade Co., Ltd., took part in the event as a council representative.

The case observed on site concerned bribery and forgery of corporate seals, delivering strong educational warning effects. During the trial, Ms. Zhao and other representatives observed the full proceedings including court investigation, evidence cross examination and court debate. The real case hearing made participating entrepreneurs deeply aware that illegal and criminal acts will not only disrupt market order, but also bring irreversible severe consequences to enterprise survival and personal careers.

As the person in charge of an enterprise engaged in international trade, Ms. Zhao has gained practical insights into law based operation and integrity driven cooperation. International trade covers contract signing, goods import and export, customs declaration and settlement, as well as cooperation with suppliers and clients. Only by embedding compliance requirements into business workflows can enterprises achieve sound and steady growth. She stated that enterprises must never harbour fluke mindsets or cross legal red lines. Both domestic cooperation and international business exchanges should abide by laws and regulations, operate in good faith, and uphold the bottom line of integrity and professional ethics.

Upon conclusion of the trial, Wang Xiaoyan, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of Dongcheng People’s Court, together with court leadership members, accompanied the delegates on a tour of the Sunshine Lobby, Court History Museum and Mediation Centre. They gave detailed briefings on court conditions, Party building work and team development. Through the visit, Ms. Zhao gained further understanding of the court’s practices in advancing judicial transparency and serving the people through justice.

Ms. Zhao remarked that this activity enabled her to intuitively perceive the solemnity and deterrence of law. The broader the international market an enterprise targets, the more emphasis it should place on risk prevention and compliance system development and management. Going forward, Silk Road Star will integrate compliance throughout its business operations and corporate management, standardize commercial practices, strengthen internal control mechanisms, and consolidate the foundation for high quality corporate development via integrity based operation.
